We are excited to share Alex & Erica’s grand wedding at the Union Station in Indianapolis. It was truly a pleasure having Erica as our bride and we are so happy to be apart of her wedding day! Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Aukerman!
Middle School Sweethearts
Erica and Alex have known each other since Kindergarten and began dating in Middle School! These two were destined to be together forever. The summer before their senior year of college, Alex was visiting from New York where he was playing football at the United States Military Academy. The couple headed downtown for a romantic dinner date; Alex suggested that they go for a walk along the canal before dinner. As they were walking they saw a man offering gondola rides on the canal and Alex suggested that they go for a ride!
“It was such a romantic/funny ride, and at the end of our ride, the driver offered to take pictures of us. I felt Alex start to slip my promise ring off of my ring finger. He then got down on one knee, and I made the easiest decision of my life!” -Erica
Saying Yes to the Dress
“I was unbelievably excited about dress shopping, and I always knew that I wanted to make an appointment at The Wedding Studio. I had followed TWS on Instagram for a long time, and a few girls I know actually recommended it to me. I was beyond excited to find out that a Greenwood location had opened right after we got engaged and knew I wanted to go there first. I went into my appointment with a specific vision: a fitted dress with a dramatic train, lace detailing, and straps. After explaining my vision to my stylist she immediately brought me a handful of dresses that fit the description exactly. I loved the first two dresses, but when I tried on the third one, I knew immediately that it was the one. I felt so confident in it, which was really important to me. I could also tell from the reaction of my friends and family that they felt the exact same way about it. I loved the fit of my dress, the amount of intricate detail that it had, and the open back.”
Erica wore a Martina Liana dress, Style 817.
“We honored a few of our deceased family members with a table right outside of our ceremony and reception. It was really special to us and a great reminder that they were there in spirit. We also had our videographer record video messages from our guests which I know is something we will cherish forever.”
Favorite Wedding Day Memory
“My favorite wedding day memory was definitely seeing Alex for the first time. We decided to do a “first look”, and it was a truly unforgettable moment. We also read our personal vows to each other at that time, and it was so nice to get a moment between just the two of us amidst the craziness of the day.”
Erica’s Advice for Future Brides
“My biggest piece of advice for future brides is to try and enjoy every step of the planning process. Try not to stress too much over the little details because at the end of the day, when you have everyone you love in one room, you’ll think it’s perfect regardless. I also advise future brides to live in the moment on your wedding day. Don’t worry about anything- just have fun and laugh off any mishaps.”
